Nationwide EV Expansion: Pakistan to Deploy 128 Fast-Charging Stations
Pakistan is set to take a major leap in electric mobility with the rollout of 128 Fast-Charging Stations across the country – marking one of the most ambitious EV infrastructure projects to date. This large-scale initiative is being driven through a strategic collaboration between BYD Pakistan and HUBCO Green (Private) Limited, aiming to strengthen the country’s EV ecosystem and accelerate adoption.
According to industry reports, the project will unfold over the next three years, with 50 DC fast chargers expected to be operational by December 2025. These chargers will be deployed across three key segments: major urban centers, intercity highways, and high-footfall commercial locations.
In urban areas such as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, installations are already underway – primarily at PSO fuel stations and BYD Pakistan dealerships. Partnerships with leading oil marketing companies, including PSO, PARCO Gunvor, and Attock Petroleum, will further support widespread deployment in cities, ensuring convenient access for daily EV users.
For long-distance travel, the network will introduce fast-charging stations along highways at intervals of 150 to 200 kilometers, significantly reducing range anxiety and enabling seamless intercity EV journeys. Additionally, destination charging points will be installed at shopping malls, hospitals, and other high-traffic locations, making charging more accessible during routine stops.
This nationwide rollout is expected to play a critical role in Pakistan’s transition towards sustainable transportation by addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption – charging infrastructure. With improved accessibility, reduced charging time, and enhanced convenience, EV ownership is likely to witness substantial growth in the coming years.
